The right start to the day is a wonderful thing because it can make the difference between having a good day and a great day. Firstly, I recommend getting up early and doing some physical exercise. Personally I like to go to the gym first thing in the morning, or take a walk around the area where I live. Next, I drink some warm water with lemon juice to cleanse the body at the start of the day.
Then some meditation, perhaps 10 minutes mindful meditation, to really clear my head and make space for the day. This can be followed by saying positive affirmations, such as ‘I am having a wonderful day and achieving everything that I set out to do’. The important thing here is to make sure that it is in the present tense and is positive.
Now it’s time to eat a healthy breakfast, I like my own homemade muesli with plenty of nuts, fresh fruit and seeds added, served with yoghurt and peppermint tea. I find it’s good for me to eat my breakfast slowly and mindfully. This is also a great time to listen to some motivational uplifting music and/or speakers, whatever and whoever works for you, to get yourself into a positive state.
After that I find it’s helpful to write down 3 things that I am grateful for in my life, this really accentuates and helps me to focus on the positive. Then I write down 3 things that I achieved yesterday. This then acts as a springboard for my to-do list for today, so next I write the list and order it so that I have a plan for the day. I am in favour of the ‘eat that frog’ approach that is taking the most difficult thing on the list and doing it first. Then it is out the way and I feel galvanised to get on with the next thing. I am then in a great place for the day ahead.
By using some of these ideas as well as your own you too can create a great start to your day and you will find that over time you get into the habit of beginning the day in a positive way, so it becomes easy. You are then giving yourself the best possible chance of being at your best and having a great productive day. Why not give it a try and see the difference it can make?
